Resideo makes and distributes products for home and building comfort, safety, security, and energy management. The company operates two distinct businesses. The Products and Solutions segment is the manufacturing arm, producing thermostats and HVAC controls under the licensed Honeywell Home brand, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors under the First Alert and BRK brands, residential security hardware under the Resideo and Honeywell Home brands, and OEM sensors and controls sold to water heater and boiler manufacturers. Products and Solutions sells primarily through professional contractors and installers, with additional retail and OEM channels. The ADI Global Distribution segment is a large specialty distributor of low-voltage products — security systems, AV equipment, and networking gear — selling to professional installers and integrators through a network of physical branches and a growing e-commerce channel. ADI stocks products from hundreds of third-party brands alongside its own exclusive brands, which were significantly expanded through the 2024 acquisition of Snap One and its Control4 smart home platform. ADI's key margin lever is growing its exclusive brands business and cross-selling Snap One products across its broader customer base. Resideo announced in July 2025 its intention to spin off ADI as an independent public company, expected to close in the second half of 2026. A legacy cash obligation to Honeywell from the 2018 spin-off was terminated in mid-2025 via a lump-sum payment, removing roughly $35M per quarter in recurring cash costs going forward.
