BioNexus Gene Lab is a small Malaysian holding company with two operating subsidiaries. The first and dominant business, Chemrex, distributes fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) resins and related chemical raw materials to industrial manufacturers across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Chemrex's customers use these materials to produce handrails, cleanroom panels, automotive and aerospace parts, medical equipment, and marine vessels. Chemrex buys materials from manufacturers, marks them up, and resells to industrial customers — a straightforward distribution model where revenue is driven by volume and the spread between purchase and selling prices. The second subsidiary, MRNA Scientific, offers blood-based RNA genomic screening services that assess a patient's risk across several cancer types, inflammatory bowel diseases, osteoarthritis, and cardiovascular and neurological conditions. Healthcare providers refer blood samples to MRNA Scientific's labs in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, which analyze RNA expression patterns and return a risk-score report. MRNA Scientific currently operates at a small scale, concentrated in Malaysia's Klang Valley. In late 2025, BioNexus secured an exclusive ASEAN license for VitaGuard, an AI-enabled liquid biopsy platform designed to detect early signs of cancer recurrence. Deployment began in early 2026, but the platform has not yet generated material revenue. BioNexus has faced Nasdaq minimum bid price compliance issues and relies on equity issuance to fund growth.
