DESCRIPTION

Autolus is an early commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on CAR T cell therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. Its only commercial product is AUCATZYL (obecabtagene autoleucel, or obe-cel), an autologous CAR T therapy that re-engineers a patient's own T cells to target CD19, a protein found on B cells, then infuses them back to destroy malignant or autoreactive B cells. AUCATZYL is FDA-approved for adult relapsed or refractory B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (r/r B-ALL) and launched commercially in the U.S. in January 2025 and in the UK in January 2026. Autolus manufactures AUCATZYL at its purpose-built Nucleus facility in Stevenage, UK, with a roughly 16-21 day turnaround from cell collection to patient delivery. Autolus sells exclusively through authorized treatment centers — specialized hematology hospitals — and had 60 authorized U.S. centers by end of 2025. Revenue is recognized at infusion, not delivery, and gross margins are currently negative because the Nucleus facility runs well below its designed capacity. Revenue growth depends on adding treatment centers, increasing utilization per center, and maintaining high manufacturing success rates. Beyond r/r B-ALL, Autolus is developing obe-cel in pediatric B-ALL, B-cell lymphomas, lupus nephritis, and progressive multiple sclerosis, and has earlier-stage pipeline candidates targeting multiple myeloma, neuroblastoma, and other cancers.
