DESCRIPTION

Castor Maritime is a Marshall Islands-incorporated, Cyprus-based shipping company that owns and operates dry bulk carriers and containerships, and since late 2024, also runs an asset management business through its subsidiary MPC Capital. Castor's shipping fleet consists of 8 dry bulk carriers — primarily Kamsarmax and Panamax vessels — and 1 feeder containership. Castor charters these vessels to commodity traders and operators under either fixed-rate or index-linked time charters, where the daily hire rate floats with Baltic Exchange indices. One vessel participates in a pool arrangement. Vessel management is outsourced to Castor Ships, a related party controlled by Castor's Chairman/CEO/CFO, under a fee-based arrangement. In December 2024, Castor acquired MPC Capital, a Frankfurt-listed asset manager with €5.1B in AUM focused on maritime and energy infrastructure, for approximately €182.8M. MPC Capital co-invests with institutional investors — pension funds, insurance companies, and family offices — in maritime and energy assets, and earns management fees, transaction fees, and performance fees. MPC Capital also holds minority stakes in MPC Container Ships and MPC Energy Solutions. Castor has been reshaping its fleet by selling older vessels and acquiring newer, more fuel-efficient ones, while using the MPC Capital acquisition to diversify from pure vessel ownership into fee-based asset management.
