DESCRIPTION

Alzamend Neuro is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with no approved products or revenue, developing treatments for Alzheimer's disease, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and PTSD. Alzamend has two pipeline assets, both licensed from the University of South Florida. The lead candidate, AL001, is a novel ionic cocrystal of lithium designed to deliver higher lithium concentrations to the brain at lower systemic doses than conventional lithium drugs, potentially eliminating the need for therapeutic drug monitoring. AL001 has completed Phase I and Phase IIA trials, and in August 2024, Alzamend partnered with Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School to run five Phase II imaging trials across healthy subjects and patient populations. The first patient enrolled in May 2025, with topline data expected by end of 2025. The second asset, ALZN002, is an autologous dendritic cell vaccine designed to stimulate the immune system to clear amyloid-beta plaques in Alzheimer's patients. Its Phase I/IIA trial is effectively paused following the termination of its contract research organization in early 2024, with resumption not expected until mid-2026. Alzamend funds operations entirely through capital raises, employs only four full-time staff, and outsources drug manufacturing and clinical trial execution to third parties. The company's commercialization strategy is to advance its candidates through clinical milestones and then out-license or partner with larger biopharmaceutical companies rather than sell directly to market.
