SS Innovations (SSi) makes the SSi Mantra, a surgical robotic system designed for minimally invasive surgery across specialties including general surgery, urology, gynecology, cardiac, and colorectal procedures. The system gives surgeons a magnified 3D view of the surgical field and translates hand movements into precise instrument movements, enabling complex procedures through small incisions. SSi's primary focus is India and emerging markets, where it competes on affordability against both conventional laparoscopic surgery and higher-cost incumbent systems like Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci. As of year-end 2025, SSi had 168 installed systems across 153 hospitals, with surgeons having performed more than 7,800 procedures on the platform. SSi generates revenue from system sales — sold outright, on installment, or on a pay-per-procedure basis — and from recurring sales of instruments, accessories, and service contracts. Instruments are reusable for a limited number of procedures, and consumables must be replenished continuously, creating a recurring revenue stream that grows with the installed base and procedure volume. SSi's latest platform, the SSi Mantra 3, adds telesurgery capabilities; SSi received Indian regulatory approval for telesurgery in December 2024 and has since performed more than 120 telesurgeries. SSi submitted a 510(k) to the FDA and a CE mark technical file in late 2025, targeting U.S. and EU market entry in 2026.
