DESCRIPTION

Beyond Meat makes plant-based meat alternatives designed to replicate the taste, texture, and nutritional profile of conventional animal protein. Core products span beef alternatives (Beyond Burger, Beyond Beef, Beyond Steak), pork alternatives (Beyond Sausage, Beyond Breakfast Sausage), and poultry alternatives (Beyond Chicken Tenders, Beyond Chicken Nuggets). Products are targeted at flexitarian consumers and marketed around health attributes including high protein, zero cholesterol, no antibiotics or hormones, and clean ingredient lists. Beyond Meat sells through two primary channels: retail (grocery, mass merchandisers, and club stores, primarily in the frozen meat aisle) and foodservice (QSR chains, institutional outlets, and schools). U.S. retail is the largest channel, with international foodservice representing a meaningful but declining share of revenue. Beyond Meat operates its own manufacturing facilities in Missouri and Pennsylvania for core production, supplemented by co-manufacturers, with key ingredients including pea protein sourced primarily from Roquette. The cost structure is heavily fixed, meaning volume declines compress margins due to underutilization. Beyond Meat is currently focused on cost reduction, manufacturing efficiency, and rebuilding U.S. retail distribution. The company completed a major debt restructuring in late 2025, converting most of its $1.15B in convertible notes into new debt and equity. Longer term, management is repositioning the brand as a broader plant-protein platform, with a new protein beverage (Beyond Immerse) launched in early 2026 through a DTC channel called Beyond Test Kitchen, which serves as a product testing platform before broader retail rollout.
