Alphabet is the parent company of Google, whose businesses span search advertising, cloud computing, video, and early-stage ventures. The core business is Google Search, the world's dominant search engine, which generates revenue by displaying ads alongside search results. Advertisers pay per click or per impression to reach users at moments of high commercial intent. YouTube, Google's video platform, generates advertising revenue driven by watch time and ad inventory, as well as growing subscription revenue from YouTube Premium, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV. Together, Search and YouTube sit within the Google Services segment. Google Cloud is Alphabet's second major business, providing cloud infrastructure, the Vertex AI development platform, and Google Workspace productivity tools to enterprises. Cloud revenue is consumption-based for infrastructure and subscription-based for Workspace and enterprise AI products. Alphabet's AI strategy centers on its Gemini family of models, custom TPU chips, and owned data centers — a vertically integrated stack that powers both its consumer products and its Cloud offerings. All 15 of Google's products with over 500M users run on Gemini models. Alphabet also holds a collection of early-stage "Other Bets," the most notable being Waymo, which operates a fully autonomous ride-hailing service. Alphabet is investing aggressively in AI infrastructure, with CapEx guided to $175-185B in FY26, funded by strong free cash flow and a large cash balance.
