DESCRIPTION

zSpace makes AR/VR educational technology hardware and software for K-12 schools, Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs, and community colleges, primarily in the U.S. The core product is a proprietary laptop — the Inspire for older students, the Imagine for elementary — that displays autostereoscopic 3D graphics without requiring goggles or specialty glasses. Students use a tracked stylus to interact with virtual 3D objects in the air in front of the screen, enabling experiences like virtual organ dissections, car engine repairs, and manufacturing simulations that would otherwise be impractical in a classroom. zSpace sells directly to U.S. school districts through its own sales force and regional resellers, and sells internationally through third-party resellers. The platform is deployed in over 3,500 U.S. public school districts, including over 80% of the 100 largest districts by enrollment. Revenue splits roughly between hardware (~50% of revenue) and software and services (~50%, growing). Hardware is recognized upfront on shipment and carries lower margins; software licenses and services are higher-margin and increasingly dominant in the mix. The business follows a "land and expand" model — hardware sales place devices in classrooms, after which software licenses and renewals build a recurring revenue stream. zSpace's growth strategy focuses on expanding its software library, deepening its CTE presence, and building out international reseller partnerships. The primary near-term risk is U.S. education funding volatility, as school districts depend on federal programs to fund technology purchases.
