DESCRIPTION

Evome Medical Technologies is a small U.S.-based medical device company focused on physical rehabilitation equipment. Its core business is Biodex Medical Systems, a manufacturer of rehabilitation devices including isokinetic dynamometers (machines that test and train muscle strength through controlled resistance), balance testing and training devices, and gait trainers. Biodex's products are used by physical therapists, hospitals, athletic trainers, and universities to assess and rehabilitate patients recovering from injury or surgery. Biodex claims its System 4 isokinetic dynamometer line holds over 60% global market share. All Biodex products are designed and manufactured at a single facility in Shirley, New York. Biodex sells roughly 75% of its products through independent distributors, with the remainder going direct to healthcare institutions, and operates across more than 25 countries. Evome also operates South Dakota Partners, a white-label contract manufacturer providing end-to-end production, packaging, and fulfillment services for other medical device companies. Evome has been narrowing its focus through divestitures, recently shedding Simbex, Arrowhead Medical, and Mio-Guard. On the product side, Biodex is launching the SpaceTek Knee, a portable isokinetic device co-developed with NASA targeting smaller clinics, and the Reactive Step Trainer, a lower-cost gait and balance device aimed at fall prevention. Evome's broader strategy involves acquiring smaller private medical device companies and expanding their distribution, though this is currently constrained by significant acquisition-related debt and a forbearance agreement with the seller of Biodex.
