DESCRIPTION

Intercorp Financial Services (IFS) is a Peruvian financial holding company operating three core businesses: banking through Interbank, insurance through Interseguro, and wealth management through Inteligo. IFS is controlled by Intercorp Peru, one of Peru's largest conglomerates. Interbank, the dominant business at roughly 76% of net profit, is Peru's third-largest bank and focuses heavily on retail banking — credit cards, payroll loans to public sector employees, personal loans, and mortgages — with a secondary commercial banking division. Interseguro is Peru's leading annuities provider, collecting lump-sum premiums upfront and investing proceeds in a fixed-income portfolio to fund future payout obligations; it also sells life insurance through a proprietary sales force of over 1,000 agents. Inteligo provides wealth management services — advisory, brokerage, mutual funds, and private banking — to high-net-worth individuals in Peru and internationally. IFS also consolidates Izipay, Peru's leading physical card payment processor, whose merchant float flows back to Interbank as low-cost deposits. IFS earns money through net interest income at Interbank, insurance premiums and investment returns at Interseguro, and fees and AUM-linked commissions at Inteligo. Key earnings drivers include loan growth and mix, cost of deposits, cost of risk, annuity volumes, and investment portfolio returns. IFS's growth strategy focuses on rebuilding its consumer loan portfolio, expanding its payments ecosystem, and growing private annuities and life insurance in Peru's underpenetrated insurance market.
