DESCRIPTION

Paycom sells cloud-based human capital management (HCM) software to U.S. businesses, primarily those with 50 to 10,000+ employees. The platform covers the full employee lifecycle — recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, time and attendance, performance management, and termination — built on a single database with one system of record. This architecture is Paycom's core differentiator: because everything is built in-house on one platform, data flows across all modules in real time, avoiding the integration issues common in competitor platforms. Payroll is the revenue foundation, and Paycom sells its full suite through its own field sales force across 29 states. Key products include Beti, a payroll automation tool that lets employees review and approve their own paychecks before submission; GONE, an automated time-off decisioning tool; and IWant, an AI-driven natural language command engine launched in 2025 that lets users retrieve any data within the platform by typing or speaking plain language commands. Paycom prices on a per-employee, per-month basis, so revenue scales with client count, employee headcount at client companies, and module adoption. Revenue is nearly entirely recurring, with a 91% retention rate in FY2025. Paycom also earns float income on roughly $2.8B in client funds held between payroll funding and disbursement. Growth levers include new logo acquisition, sales force expansion, upselling additional modules to existing clients, and moving upmarket toward larger employers.
