DESCRIPTION

Aramark is a contract food and facilities services company. Aramark manages food service operations — running cafeterias, dining halls, concession stands, and catering — on behalf of institutions and venues that prefer to outsource these functions rather than operate them in-house. Aramark also provides related facilities services including housekeeping, plant operations, and energy management. Clients include colleges and universities, K-12 school districts, hospitals, businesses, sports and entertainment venues, and correctional facilities. In most locations, Aramark is the exclusive food and beverage provider and is responsible for staffing, sourcing, and day-to-day operations. Aramark operates through two segments: FSS United States (~71% of revenue) and FSS International (~29% of revenue), with major international operations in Canada, the U.K., Chile, Germany, Spain, and Ireland. Aramark uses two contract structures: profit-and-loss contracts (~two-thirds of revenue), where Aramark bears all operating risk, and management fee contracts (~one-third of revenue), where the client reimburses costs and pays a fee. Profitability is driven by net new business wins, client retention (96.3% in FY25), price and volume growth in existing accounts, and supply chain economics through Avendra, Aramark's group purchasing organization with over $20B in purchasing spend. A growing share of new wins comes from first-time outsourcing conversions, particularly in healthcare and higher education athletics.
