Xenon Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage neuroscience biopharmaceutical company focused on developing azetukalner (AZK), a Kv7 potassium channel opener that reduces neuronal excitability. Xenon has no approved products and no commercial revenue. Azetukalner is in Phase 3 trials across four indications: focal onset seizures (FOS) and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (PGTCS) in epilepsy, and major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar depression as monotherapy. The FOS indication is the most advanced, with the pivotal X-TOLE2 Phase 3 trial fully enrolled and topline data expected in the first half of 2026. A positive readout would support a U.S. NDA filing roughly six months later, with a commercial launch targeted for 2027. Xenon plans to build its own U.S. sales force for the epilepsy launch. Beyond azetukalner, Xenon has early-stage programs in pain (Nav1.7 and Kv7 inhibitors, both in Phase 1) and a preclinical Nav1.1 program targeting Dravet syndrome. Xenon also has a collaboration with Neurocrine Biosciences, under which Neurocrine develops Nav1.2/1.6 inhibitors discovered by Xenon in exchange for milestones and royalties. Xenon is funded by equity capital and collaboration milestones, with roughly $555M in cash as of September 2025, which management expects to fund operations into 2027.
