DESCRIPTION

Acumen Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with no approved products or revenue, focused entirely on developing a disease-modifying treatment for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Its lead and only clinical asset is sabirnetug (ACU193), a monoclonal antibody that selectively targets amyloid-beta oligomers (AβOs) — soluble, toxic clusters of the amyloid-beta protein that Acumen believes are a primary driver of AD pathology. This differs from approved anti-amyloid antibodies like Leqembi and Kisunla, which primarily target insoluble amyloid plaques. Acumen argues that AβOs are more directly neurotoxic, and that sabirnetug's high selectivity for AβOs may deliver better efficacy and a lower rate of amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA), a common side effect of amyloid-targeting drugs. Sabirnetug is currently in a 542-participant Phase 2 trial (ALTITUDE-AD) in patients with early AD, with enrollment complete and top-line results expected in late 2026. Beyond the IV formulation in Phase 2, Acumen is developing a subcutaneous version for patient convenience, and has entered a collaboration with JCR Pharmaceuticals to engineer a next-generation AβO antibody with dramatically enhanced brain penetration, targeting an IND filing in mid-2027. Acumen funds operations through capital raises and had roughly $136M in cash as of Q3 2025, which management expects to last into early 2027.
