DESCRIPTION

SiriusPoint is a Bermuda-based specialty insurer and reinsurer that underwrites property, casualty, accident & health (A&H), and specialty lines globally. The company distributes primarily through managing general agents (MGAs) — third-party firms that market products and exercise underwriting authority on SiriusPoint's behalf — while SiriusPoint provides the capital, paper, and licensing capacity. SiriusPoint operates two segments: Insurance & Services (~63% of gross written premium), which writes primary insurance predominantly through MGA partnerships, and Reinsurance (~37%), which provides treaty reinsurance globally. A&H is the single largest line at roughly 27% of total company premium, covering employer groups, associations, and travel medical markets. SiriusPoint owns IMG, a travel and international health MGA, outright. SiriusPoint earns revenue through underwriting income, service fees from consolidated MGAs, and investment income from a conservative, short-duration fixed income portfolio. The company has deliberately reduced property catastrophe exposure since 2022 and shifted toward low-volatility specialty lines — particularly A&H and Surety — that are less correlated to P&C pricing cycles. SiriusPoint has also rationalized its MGA equity stakes from 36 to 18, selling Armada and Arcadian and redeploying proceeds to reduce leverage and buy back shares. The company's growth strategy centers on deepening its MGA platform, expanding A&H through IMG, and growing U.S. and international specialty lines.
