DESCRIPTION

TAO Synergies is a public company that began as a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company and has since pivoted to operate primarily as a cryptocurrency treasury vehicle. Originally, TAO Synergies developed Bryostatin-1, a drug candidate derived from a marine organism, aimed at treating Alzheimer's disease by activating an enzyme called PKC epsilon to restore synaptic connections in neurons. After several Phase 2 trials for Alzheimer's disease failed to achieve statistical significance on primary endpoints, the company's board shifted direction in mid-2025. The legacy biopharmaceutical business is now largely dormant, with no active clinical trials underway. TAO Synergies now allocates the majority of its treasury — between 75% and 100% of excess cash — to purchasing TAO, the native token of the Bittensor network, a decentralized blockchain that incentivizes AI and machine learning work. The company stakes all acquired TAO through two validators to earn additional TAO as yield from protocol emissions. TAO Synergies uses BitGo as its custodian and prime broker, holds no diversification across other assets, and does not hedge its TAO exposure. The company's stated goal is to maximize TAO tokens per share over time through continuous accumulation and staking. TAO Synergies also operates The TAO Daily, a media platform covering the Bittensor ecosystem. The company has four full-time employees and leases roughly 300 square feet of office space in New York.
