AmpliTech Group designs, engineers, and manufactures RF and microwave components and systems, operating through two core businesses. The legacy business produces low noise amplifiers (LNAs), cryogenic amplifiers, and passive microwave components sold to aerospace and defense contractors, satellite operators, and government agencies — including Viasat, L3 Harris, and Lockheed Martin. The emerging growth business, operated through the AGTGSS division, designs and manufactures Open RAN (ORAN)-compliant 5G radio units for mobile network operators (MNOs) and private enterprise 5G deployments. ORAN radios use open, standardized interfaces that allow MNOs to mix and match hardware and software from different vendors, as an alternative to proprietary systems from Nokia and Ericsson. AmpliTech's radios embed its own proprietary LNA technology and the company claims to be the only U.S.-based, vertically integrated end-to-end ORAN supplier — designing MMIC chips in-house in Texas, packaging them through its Spectrum Semiconductor Materials (SSM) division in California, and assembling radios in New York. AmpliTech has active purchase orders against two non-binding letters of intent with Tier 1 MNOs, including Telus in Canada, valued at $78M and $40M. Beyond MNOs, AmpliTech is building a private 5G business targeting enterprises such as mines and manufacturing facilities, and is also positioned in cryogenic amplifiers for quantum computing applications.
