DESCRIPTION

TuHURA Biosciences is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company with no approved products or revenue. Its focus is developing cancer immunotherapies that overcome resistance to checkpoint inhibitors (CPIs) — drugs like Keytruda that activate the immune system against tumors. A large share of cancer patients either never respond to CPIs or stop responding over time, and TuHURA's pipeline targets both failure modes. Its lead program, IFx-2.0, works by injecting plasmid DNA directly into a tumor, causing tumor cells to express a bacterial surface protein that triggers the innate immune system to attack the tumor — effectively converting "cold" tumors that CPIs ignore into "hot" ones that respond. In June 2025, TuHURA initiated a Phase 3 trial of IFx-2.0 combined with Keytruda in first-line Merkel cell carcinoma, backed by an FDA Special Protocol Assessment agreement. TuHURA also acquired TBS-2025, a VISTA-inhibiting antibody, through its June 2025 acquisition of Kineta, which it plans to develop in NPM1-mutant acute myeloid leukemia — a subset with high VISTA expression and few treatment options. A third, preclinical program targets myeloid-derived suppressor cells using novel antibody-drug conjugates. TuHURA funds operations through equity issuances and aims to establish pharma licensing partnerships as a source of non-dilutive capital. Its growth strategy centers on pursuing accelerated approval pathways in small, well-defined indications, then expanding via basket trials across broader CPI-resistant tumor types.
