DESCRIPTION

Quest Water Global makes and sells solar-powered water purification systems targeting rural and peri-urban communities in emerging markets, primarily in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The company's core product, the AQUAtap, is a self-contained, solar-powered water purification unit housed in a modified shipping container, capable of processing up to 100,000 litres of water per day and serving up to 20,000 people. AQUAtap uses reverse osmosis or ultrafiltration membranes depending on source water type and includes built-in cashless point-of-sale interfaces. Quest Water also offers the WEPS (Water Extraction and Purification System), which pulls moisture from the atmosphere to produce potable water, targeting commercial bottled water and agriculture. The company operates under a Build-Own-Operate model: rather than selling equipment outright, Quest Water installs and operates AQUAtap systems and sells clean water directly to community residents, generating recurring revenue from water sales. Quest Water pursues this through local partnerships in each country of operation, while its Canadian subsidiary handles product design, engineering, and manufacturing. Primary geographic focus is the DRC, Angola, and South Africa. Quest Water is very early-stage, with just 11 staff and its first DRC system installed in 2021. Near-term growth centers on scaling DRC operations, targeting 500 AQUAtap installations over five years around Kinshasa, with plans to replicate the model across additional markets.
