Concord Medical Services is a China-based oncology healthcare company that operates two complementary businesses: a hospital business and a network business. In the hospital business, Concord Medical owns and operates for-profit cancer hospitals and clinics that provide a full spectrum of oncology care, including screening, diagnosis, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, and immunotherapy. As for-profit institutions, these hospitals are not subject to government price controls, allowing Concord Medical to price based on market demand. Current facilities include a 400-bed comprehensive cancer hospital in Guangzhou (which includes a proton therapy center) and outpatient and imaging clinics in Shanghai; a second 400-bed hospital in Shanghai is under construction. In the network business, Concord Medical partners with top-tier public hospitals to establish and manage radiotherapy and diagnostic imaging centers. Concord Medical provides the equipment, management, and clinical support, while the partner hospital employs the doctors and handles clinical decisions. In return, Concord Medical receives a contracted share of each center's revenue — typically 50% to 90% — under long-term arrangements of five to twenty years. Concord Medical also sells medical equipment and cloud-based platforms for remote imaging diagnostics, radiation therapy planning, and supply chain management to hospitals. Concord Medical's growth strategy centers on proton therapy, which is a premium, self-pay service in China, as well as expanding its hospital footprint and scaling its cloud solutions. Concord Medical has collaborated with MD Anderson Cancer Center since 2015 on clinical protocols and physician training.
