DESCRIPTION

SiTime designs and sells precision timing semiconductors — the chips that generate and distribute accurate clock signals in electronic systems. The company's core products are MEMS-based oscillators, which SiTime positions as a premium alternative to traditional quartz crystal oscillators, offering better resistance to temperature, vibration, and shock. SiTime also sells clock ICs (network synchronizers, jitter cleaners, clock generators, and buffers), standalone resonators through its Titan platform, and recently launched TimeFabric, an IEEE 1588-compliant time synchronization software suite bundled with its hardware for AI data center networking. SiTime operates a fabless model, designing products in-house while outsourcing manufacturing to Bosch (MEMS wafers), TSMC, and UMC. Revenue is driven by units sold, average selling prices, and content per platform — SiTime increasingly bundles oscillators with clock ICs to expand its share of the "clock tree" in each customer design. The company sells through distributors for most customers, with Arrow Electronics and Pernas Electronics together accounting for roughly half of revenue, and deploys a direct sales force for large accounts like hyperscalers and automotive OEMs. SiTime's three end-market segments are Communications, Enterprise, and Datacenter (roughly 53% of revenue), Automotive, Industrial, and Aerospace/Defense (~22%), and Mobile, IoT, and Consumer (~21%), with Apple estimated at roughly 17% of total revenue. SiTime has a pending acquisition of Renesas' timing division for ~$1.5B in cash plus stock, which would add approximately $300M in revenue and 500 clock IC products.
