Lithium Argentina is a Swiss-domiciled mining company focused on producing battery-grade lithium carbonate from brine deposits in Argentina. Its sole producing asset is Cauchari-Olaroz, a lithium brine operation in Jujuy Province in which Lithium Argentina holds a 44.8% stake through a joint venture with Ganfeng Lithium (46.7%) and the Jujuy provincial government (8.5%). The operation pumps lithium-enriched brine from underground aquifers into solar evaporation ponds, then processes the concentrated brine into lithium carbonate through a hydrometallurgical plant with 40,000 tpa nameplate capacity. Commissioned in 2024, production has ramped to roughly 34,100 tonnes in 2025. Lithium carbonate is sold primarily to Ganfeng and Bangchak under market-priced offtake agreements, with Lithium Argentina acting as agent in these transactions. Profitability is driven by production volume, prevailing lithium carbonate prices, and the discount applied to Cauchari-Olaroz's product, which carries trace impurities and is not yet consistently battery-grade. Beyond Cauchari-Olaroz, Lithium Argentina holds a 33% stake in the development-stage Pozuelos-Pastos Grandes project in Salta Province, a joint venture with Ganfeng targeting a three-phase build-out to 153,000 tpa using a hybrid solar evaporation and direct lithium extraction process, with Phase 1 targeted to start in 2029. Lithium Argentina also holds a 100% owned exploration-stage project in Catamarca Province. Ganfeng is a central partner across operations, financing, and technology.
