DESCRIPTION

POET Technologies is a semiconductor design company focused on photonic integration for data center connectivity. Its core product is the POET Optical Interposer, a chip-scale platform that integrates electronic and photonic components onto a single chip using standard wafer-level semiconductor manufacturing. Built on this platform, POET's primary commercial product is the Optical Engine — the core subassembly inside an optical transceiver module that transmits data over fiber-optic cables inside data centers. POET sells Optical Engines to transceiver module makers, who integrate them into finished modules sold to data center operators and hyperscalers. POET is also developing Light Source products (sold under the "Blazar" and "LightBar" brands), which are external laser modules targeting emerging data center architectures where light handles chip-to-chip data transfer. POET uses a fab-light model, outsourcing manufacturing to contract manufacturers in Penang, Malaysia, while retaining IP and design in-house. The company is pre-commercialization — total revenue is minimal, and POET funds operations primarily through equity. Near-term priorities include ramping Malaysia manufacturing, qualifying and shipping 800G Optical Engines, and sampling 1.6T products for the next wave of hyperscaler deployments. Longer-term, POET aims to move up the value chain by selling complete transceiver modules directly to end users, and potentially licensing its technology for applications it does not directly pursue.
