The Invesco DB US Dollar Index Bearish Fund is an ETF that gives investors short exposure to the U.S. dollar. The Fund takes short positions in DX Contracts — futures tied to the ICE U.S. Dollar Index (USDX) — to track the Deutsche Bank Short USD Currency Portfolio Index – Excess Return. The USDX measures the dollar against a basket of six currencies: the Euro (57.6% weight), Japanese Yen (13.6%), British Pound (11.9%), Canadian Dollar (9.1%), Swedish Krona (4.2%), and Swiss Franc (3.6%). The Fund gains when the dollar weakens and loses when the dollar strengthens. Investors use the Fund to hedge dollar exposure or speculate on a declining dollar. The Fund sells shares only to Authorized Participants in blocks of 50,000 shares, which are then traded on NYSE Arca. Invesco Capital Management manages the Fund passively and charges a 0.75% annual management fee on NAV. Total returns to investors reflect three components: gains or losses on short DX Contract positions, collateral income from U.S. Treasury Obligations and money market instruments held against futures positions, and expenses including the management fee and brokerage commissions paid to Morgan Stanley. The Fund rolls its futures positions quarterly over three business days before each IMM Date.
