DESCRIPTION

Hanesbrands is a global manufacturer and marketer of everyday basics and innerwear apparel. Core products include men's underwear, women's panties, children's underwear, bras, shapewear, socks, T-shirts, and fleece — replenishment-driven essentials that consumers buy regularly. The two flagship brands are Hanes, the most widely recognized apparel brand in the U.S., and Bonds, Australia's leading innerwear brand. Other key brands include Maidenform (shapewear), Bali (bras and shapewear), and Playtex. Following the divestiture of Champion in 2024, Hanesbrands operates through two segments: U.S. (~74% of sales) and International (~26%), with International dominated by the Australian business. Hanesbrands sells primarily through wholesale in the U.S. — Walmart, Amazon, and Target together account for nearly half of total sales — while the International business is roughly split between wholesale and direct-to-consumer via owned stores and e-commerce, with Bonds operating over 140 retail stores in Australia. Hanesbrands owns or controls roughly 75% of its supply chain across 20 manufacturing facilities, primarily in Central America, the Caribbean, and Asia, giving it cost visibility that pure-play sourcing competitors lack. Profitability is sensitive to cotton and freight costs, product and SKU mix, and SG&A leverage. Management's current focus is on consumer-led innovation to attract younger shoppers, distribution expansion at mass retailers, and cost structure improvement, with a long-term operating margin target above 15%.
