Start free trialTesla designs, manufactures, and sells electric vehicles and energy storage products globally. Tesla's vehicle lineup includes the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, Cybertruck, and Tesla Semi, with Model Y the highest-volume product. Tesla sells vehicles directly to consumers through its website and company-owned stores, bypassing dealerships. The Automotive segment — the large majority of revenue — includes vehicle sales and leases, Full Self-Driving (FSD) software, Supercharging, insurance, used vehicle sales, and regulatory credit sales to other automakers. Tesla's Energy Generation and Storage segment sells Megapack (utility-scale battery storage), Powerwall (residential battery storage), and solar products. Tesla's near-term strategic focus is shifting toward autonomy: in mid-2025, Tesla launched a paid Robotaxi service in Austin using Model Y vehicles with no safety driver, and is ramping production of the Cybercab, a purpose-built two-seat autonomous vehicle. FSD software is sold via subscription or upfront purchase, and Tesla is transitioning to a fully subscription-based model. Over-the-air software updates allow Tesla to monetize its installed fleet post-sale. Tesla is also developing Optimus, a general-purpose humanoid robot, targeting meaningful factory deployment and early external sales in the 2026-2027 timeframe. Longer term, Tesla is pursuing vertical integration in batteries and semiconductors, and building out AI training infrastructure to support its vehicle, robotaxi, and robotics platforms.
