DESCRIPTION

Genelux is a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company developing oncolytic viral immunotherapies for cancer. Genelux has no approved products and generates no product revenue; its value depends entirely on the clinical success of its lead drug candidate, Olvi-Vec. Olvi-Vec is based on a modified vaccinia virus that selectively infects and kills tumor cells, then triggers the patient's immune system to attack cancer more broadly. A key mechanism is "platinum resensitization," where Olvi-Vec appears to make tumors that have become resistant to standard platinum-based chemotherapy responsive to it again. Olvi-Vec is an off-the-shelf therapy, meaning the same product is given to all patients. Genelux's primary target is platinum-resistant/refractory ovarian cancer, where it is running a Phase 3 trial with topline results expected in the second half of 2026. Genelux is also evaluating Olvi-Vec in recurrent non-small cell and small cell lung cancer, though those programs are earlier stage. Genelux funds operations through equity issuances and payments from Newsoara, a Chinese partner that has paid $11M to date and owes up to $160.5M in additional milestones plus royalties on Chinese sales. If approved, Genelux plans to sell Olvi-Vec directly in the U.S. through its own commercial organization while partnering with regional companies outside the U.S. Genelux operates its own manufacturing facility in San Diego to produce clinical and, eventually, commercial supply.
