DESCRIPTION

CytoDyn is a clinical-stage biotechnology company with a single product candidate: leronlimab (PRO 140), a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the CCR5 receptor. CCR5 is a protein found on white blood cells and cancer cells that appears to help tumor cells metastasize. By blocking CCR5, leronlimab aims to inhibit metastatic spread, modulate the tumor immune environment, and potentially sensitize tumors to immune checkpoint inhibitors. CytoDyn has no approved products and generates no revenue. The company's primary active program is a Phase II trial in metastatic colorectal cancer, studying leronlimab in combination with standard chemotherapy in patients with MSS mCRC — a subtype with limited treatment options since it doesn't respond to immunotherapy. The first patient was dosed in June 2025. CytoDyn is also planning to resume prospective development in metastatic triple-negative breast cancer, where retrospective data suggested leronlimab may increase PD-L1 expression on tumor cells, potentially enhancing ICI therapy response. A pilot study in recurrent glioblastoma is also being planned. CytoDyn has only 13 employees and relies on CROs and CMOs to run trials and manufacture drug supply. The company funds operations primarily through equity issuance, though it is pursuing licensing deals and co-development partnerships to reduce dilution. If leronlimab is eventually approved, revenue would come from commercial sales or licensing to a larger pharma partner.
