DESCRIPTION

Hyster-Yale designs, manufactures, and sells forklift trucks and related solutions under two core brands — Hyster and Yale — which share common engineering and manufacturing platforms but target slightly different customer segments. Lift trucks account for roughly 71% of revenue, with parts at 16%, service and rental at 8%, and the Bolzoni attachment business at 5%. Hyster-Yale sells both internal combustion engine and electric trucks, reaching customers across warehousing, manufacturing, logistics, and ports in 111 countries through a network of independent dealers, supplemented by a direct sales program for large accounts. Bolzoni, a separate segment, makes precision lift truck attachments, forks, and masts for specialized load handling. The business model combines large capital goods sales — which are cyclical and sensitive to customer capital spending — with a recurring parts and service stream tied to an installed base of trucks in the field. Parts tend to carry higher and more stable margins than new truck sales. Profitability is driven by manufacturing volume absorption, pricing discipline, and product mix, with heavier-duty Class 4 and 5 trucks carrying better margins than smaller warehouse trucks. Hyster-Yale's growth initiatives include a new modular truck platform to improve manufacturing flexibility and cost competitiveness, expanded electric warehouse truck offerings, automated lift trucks, and energy solutions including lithium-ion battery modules and mobile charging. A multi-year manufacturing footprint consolidation is expected to deliver $30-$40M in annualized savings by 2027.
