Traws Pharma is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing oral antiviral treatments for respiratory viral diseases, with two lead programs. The first is tivoxavir marboxil (TXM), an oral, single-dose cap-dependent endonuclease inhibitor targeting influenza A and B, including H5N1 bird flu. TXM has completed Phase 1 studies, and a key feature of its profile is detectable plasma drug levels for up to 23 days from a single dose, which supports both acute treatment and once-monthly prophylaxis use cases. Traws is in active dialogue with BARDA about including TXM in the U.S. Strategic National Stockpile, which could represent a near-term government procurement revenue pathway. TXM's U.S. IND is currently on clinical hold due to FDA concerns with the toxicology data package. The second program is ratutrelvir, an oral, once-daily COVID-19 antiviral designed without a ritonavir booster — unlike Pfizer's Paxlovid — making it potentially suitable for patients who cannot take Paxlovid due to drug-drug interactions. A Phase 2a study showed ratutrelvir was non-inferior to Paxlovid in time to symptom resolution, with fewer adverse events. Traws also holds two legacy oncology assets — narazaciclib and rigosertib — which it is seeking to out-license rather than develop internally. Traws has no approved products or commercial revenue, funds operations through equity raises, and relies on third-party contract manufacturers for all production.
