DESCRIPTION

Carnival Corporation is the world's largest cruise company, operating eight brands across the contemporary, premium, and luxury segments. The brands include Carnival Cruise Line (the largest, targeting North American families), Princess Cruises and Holland America Line (premium, North America-focused), Seabourn (ultra-luxury), AIDA and Costa (targeting German and Italian guests, respectively), P&O Cruises (Britain's largest cruise line), and Cunard (luxury ocean travel). Carnival sells a bundled vacation — ticket price covers accommodation, most meals, entertainment, and port visits — and generates additional revenue onboard from drinks, casino gaming, spa services, shore excursions, and specialty dining. Ticket revenue accounts for roughly two-thirds of cruise revenues, with onboard spending making up the remainder. Carnival sells primarily through travel agents and directly through brand websites. Beyond the ships, Carnival owns a portfolio of exclusive Caribbean port destinations and islands, which it uses to charge ticket premiums and capture additional guest spending ashore. Carnival also operates a seasonal Alaska land-and-sea tourism business through Holland America Princess Alaska Tours. Near-term growth is focused on yield improvement per ship rather than capacity expansion, with only one new ship delivery expected annually for several years. Longer-term, Carnival is investing in Caribbean destination development, midlife ship refurbishments, and a selective newbuild program concentrated in its highest-returning brands.
