DESCRIPTION

Oil States International manufactures highly engineered equipment and consumable products for offshore oil and gas production systems, while also providing completion and production services and downhole tools for U.S. land-based oil and gas operators. The company operates through three segments: Offshore Manufactured Products (~64% of revenue), Completion and Production Services (~17%), and Downhole Technologies (~18%). The Offshore Manufactured Products segment is the core of the business, making capital equipment used in deepwater and offshore infrastructure — including FlexJoint connectors, high-pressure riser systems, managed pressure drilling systems, deepwater mooring systems, and subsea pipeline products. Oil States sells these products to major and national oil companies, offshore drillers, and subsea engineering firms globally, with key markets in Brazil, West Africa, Southeast Asia, and the North Sea. The segment also sells vibration dampening products to the U.S. Navy. Offshore products are sold under firm purchase orders with long lead times, building into a multi-quarter backlog. The Downhole Technologies segment makes consumable perforating guns, frac plugs, and completion tools used in U.S. land well completions — products that are consumed per well, making revenue recurring but cyclical. Oil States is executing a deliberate pivot toward offshore and international markets, exiting low-margin U.S. land service lines and growing its offshore backlog through new products and a new manufacturing facility in Indonesia.
