Grupo Financiero Galicia is Argentina's largest private-sector financial services holding company. Its flagship subsidiary, Banco Galicia, holds a roughly 16% share of private-sector deposits and 14% share of private-sector loans, making it the largest private-sector bank in Argentina by assets, deposits, and loans. Banco Galicia offers a full suite of banking products — loans, deposits, credit and debit cards, trade finance, and investment products — to retail customers, SMEs, large corporates, and the agricultural sector through 316 branches and a digital app used by 89% of active retail customers. The group's second major subsidiary is Naranja X, a credit card and digital finance company targeting low- to middle-income and underbanked Argentines, with 8.9 million credit cards in circulation and 8.6 million active savings account users. Beyond banking and consumer finance, Grupo Galicia operates Galicia Seguros (insurance), Galicia Asset Management (Argentina's largest mutual fund manager with ~15% market share), and Inviu (a digital brokerage platform with over $3.9B in AUM). In December 2024, Grupo Galicia acquired HSBC's Argentine banking, asset management, and insurance operations, merging the acquired bank into Banco Galicia by mid-2025 and adding roughly 2.5 percentage points of market share in loans and deposits. Banco Galicia earns primarily on the spread between loan and securities yields and deposit funding costs. Argentina's private-sector credit penetration sits at roughly 10% of GDP, well below regional peers, which management views as the core long-term growth opportunity.
