DESCRIPTION

Koil Energy is a small Houston-based energy services company that designs, manufactures, and installs subsea equipment for offshore oil and gas operations. The company sits in the supply chain between topside production facilities and seabed infrastructure. Core products include steel tube flying leads (its flagship LSFL® product, which transmits hydraulic fluid and chemicals between subsea equipment), umbilical termination assemblies, subsea isolation valve control systems, and installation hardware. On the services side, Koil Energy provides project management, engineering, spooling, testing, commissioning, and equipment refurbishment. Customers are primarily major integrated oil companies, large independents, and national oil companies, with sales driven by a Houston-based direct sales force responding to competitive bids. Revenue comes from two streams: fixed-price product contracts and time-and-materials service contracts. The cost structure is largely fixed, making the business highly operationally leveraged — margins improve significantly when labor utilization is high and deteriorate when project awards slow. Demand is tied to the capex cycle of offshore operators, with greenfield projects planned years in advance and brownfield/maintenance activity more discretionary. Koil Energy's primary market is the Gulf of America, with early-stage expansion into Brazil and a strategic alliance with SubseaDesign in Norway targeting North Sea tieback activity. The company is also applying its subsea skills to offshore wind service contracts as it looks to diversify into adjacent markets.
