DESCRIPTION

Zivo Bioscience is an early-stage R&D company developing products derived from a proprietary algal culture for animal and human health applications. Zivo operates two platforms: a therapeutic biotech business and a nutritional agtech business. On the therapeutic side, Zivo's lead program is a non-antibiotic feed additive for broiler chickens targeting coccidiosis, a parasitic intestinal disease. Rather than targeting the parasite directly, Zivo's candidate works by modulating the chicken's immune system — a different mechanism from the ionophores and anticoccidials that have dominated the market for decades. Secondary therapeutic programs include bovine mastitis, canine osteoarthritis, avian influenza, and human immune modulation, all at early discovery stages. Zivo's strategy is to license these product candidates to established animal health companies, rather than fund full regulatory approval itself — licensees would bear those costs in exchange for milestone payments and royalties. On the nutrition side, Zivo sells a dried algae powder branded ZivoLife, marketed as a high-protein food ingredient. The product is manufactured in Peru and sold in North America through a distribution agreement with ZWorldwide. Production is currently small, with full capacity of roughly 100,000 kg per year targeted for 2027. Zivo has not yet licensed or sold any therapeutic products, and nutrition revenue is modest given the early stage of scale-up. The company employs seven people and relies on external financing to fund operations.
