DESCRIPTION

Gaia operates a niche subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) streaming service focused on "conscious media" — content covering yoga, spiritual growth, alternative healing, and metaphysics. The platform targets an audience that mainstream streamers largely ignore: people interested in personal transformation, holistic wellness, and unconventional perspectives on science and spirituality. Gaia's content library exceeds 10,000 titles, organized into four channels: Yoga, Transformation, Alternative Healing, and Seeking Truth. Over 90% of Gaia's content is exclusive to its platform, produced in-house at its campus near Boulder, Colorado. About 40% of members are outside the U.S., and Gaia offers content in Spanish, German, and French. Gaia earns revenue primarily through flat-fee monthly and annual subscriptions, with roughly 97% of revenue coming from the core SVOD business. About 80% of members subscribe directly through gaia.com or Gaia's apps, and Gaia is actively shifting away from third-party platforms like Amazon and Roku, which generate roughly half the revenue per member and roughly double the churn of direct members. Gaia's gross margins are around 87%, driven by the digital delivery model with content amortization as the primary cost. Gaia also operates Igniton, a majority-owned subsidiary selling wellness supplements, and a Marketplace offering curated trips and physical products, though both are small relative to the core SVOD business. Key growth levers include ARPU-focused price increases, an AI-powered content discovery tool launched in late 2025, and a community platform planned for late 2026.
