DESCRIPTION

VirnetX is a small cybersecurity software company focused on securing real-time communications over the internet using Zero Trust Network Access principles. Its core products — VirnetX One, VirnetX Matrix, and VirnetX War Room — are all built on a single platform that uses patented Secure Domain Name System technology to deliver end-to-end encrypted, identity-based access controls. VirnetX One is the foundational platform, deployable as cloud, on-premise, or hybrid. Matrix extends protection to enterprise applications, connected devices, and control systems. War Room provides secure virtual collaboration tools for high-confidentiality use cases in government, law enforcement, legal, and healthcare. VirnetX targets U.S. DoD, federal government, and commercial customers, and holds a Multiple Award Schedule contract to simplify procurement for government agencies. The company has only 21 employees, and its product business appears early-stage. Historically, VirnetX's primary revenue source has been its patent portfolio — acquired from Leidos in 2006 — which the company has monetized through licensing and litigation against large technology companies. Going forward, VirnetX is building out capabilities in IoT security, mesh networking, and digital engineering services, and is pursuing deeper ties with the defense sector through a CRADA with the Air Force Research Laboratory and an investment in AI/ML solutions provider OmniTeq.
