DESCRIPTION

Cemex is one of the largest cement producers in the world, and also a major supplier of ready-mix concrete and aggregates. Cement — sold in bagged form to retail self-builders and in bulk to contractors and industrial users — is Cemex's core product. Ready-mix concrete is pre-mixed at local plants and delivered to job sites, with Cemex customizing mix designs for specific applications. Aggregates (crushed stone, sand, and gravel) are sold both internally to Cemex's own ready-mix operations and externally to third parties. Cemex operates across five geographic segments: the U.S. (its largest by revenue, with a ready-mix-heavy mix), Mexico (a retail/bagged cement model distributed through the Construrama network), Europe, MEA, and SCA&C. Cemex is vertically integrated in most markets, supplying its own ready-mix plants with internal cement and aggregates, which improves margins and reduces exposure to third-party input costs. Cemex also trades roughly 12 million tons of cementitious materials annually across 65+ countries, redirecting surplus capacity to high-demand regions. The business has high operating leverage — a significant portion of costs are fixed — so volumes are a key profit driver. Cemex is currently focused on cost reduction via its "Project Cutting Edge" program, targeting $400M in recurring annual EBITDA savings by 2027, while rebalancing its portfolio toward U.S. aggregates and adjacent businesses such as admixtures, mortars, and concrete products.
