DESCRIPTION

SolarWindow Technologies is a pre-revenue company developing transparent, electricity-generating coatings — branded as LiquidElectricity Coatings — that can be applied to glass and plastic surfaces to generate electricity using organic photovoltaic (OPV) technology. Unlike conventional solar panels, SolarWindow's coatings are designed to work in natural sunlight, artificial light, and low-light conditions, and can be applied to surfaces like building windows, curtain walls, vehicle panels, and greenhouse canopies without sacrificing transparency. SolarWindow conducts its core R&D at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory under a cooperative research agreement. The company has no customers or revenue today. If the technology is successfully developed, SolarWindow intends to commercialize through IP licensing and partnerships — licensing its coatings technology and processes to glass manufacturers, window fabricators, and automotive suppliers — rather than manufacturing products directly. SolarWindow holds 14 granted U.S. patents and 21 granted non-U.S. patents, with key patents expiring between 2031 and 2040. The company operates with a very small team and funds itself entirely through equity financing. SolarWindow has not yet demonstrated that its technology can achieve competitive efficiency at commercial scale, and the timeline and funding required to reach commercialization remain uncertain.
