DESCRIPTION

Quanta Services is the largest specialty contractor in the U.S. for electric power and energy infrastructure. Quanta designs, builds, upgrades, and maintains transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, and renewable energy generation facilities (solar, wind, and battery storage) for electric and gas utilities, which account for roughly 70% of revenue. Quanta is also expanding into large load centers — providing electrical, mechanical, and process infrastructure for data centers, chip fabs, and advanced manufacturing — as well as gas utility distribution, pipeline integrity, and communications network construction. Quanta operates through two segments: Electric Infrastructure Solutions (the dominant segment, covering transmission, distribution, renewables, and large load center electrical work) and Underground Utility and Infrastructure Solutions (gas utility, pipeline, and mechanical/process services). Quanta's business model is labor-intensive: revenue scales with project volume and workforce utilization across its roughly 69,500 employees. A key structural advantage is Quanta's roughly 80–85% self-perform rate, which lowers cost and improves execution certainty versus subcontracting. A large share of revenue comes from master service agreements and long-term programmatic contracts with utilities, providing a steady base load. Quanta is investing in vertical integration — including domestic transformer and circuit breaker manufacturing and a stake in a utility pole producer — to offer customers supply chain certainty. Growth is driven by grid modernization and electrification demand, rapid expansion in data center and large load infrastructure, and disciplined M&A targeting capability additions and adjacent markets.
