DESCRIPTION

OSI Systems designs and manufactures specialized electronic systems for security, healthcare, and defense applications. The company operates through three divisions: Security (~72% of revenues), Optoelectronics and Manufacturing (~22%), and Healthcare (~6%). Security is OSI's dominant business, selling non-intrusive inspection systems under the Rapiscan brand — ranging from compact baggage scanners to large portal systems capable of scanning entire trucks or rail cars at border crossings and ports. Security customers include U.S. federal agencies (CBP, TSA, DOD) and foreign governments worldwide. Beyond hardware, OSI operates turnkey screening programs under the S2 brand, where OSI constructs, staffs, and runs security checkpoints on behalf of governments, generating long-term recurring revenue. OSI also sells CertScan, a SaaS platform that integrates data across inspection sites and enables remote adjudication of screening decisions. Service contracts on the installed base are growing as hardware sold in prior years rolls off warranty. The Optoelectronics division makes photodetectors, laser diodes, and sensors, and provides electronics manufacturing services to OEM customers in defense, medical, and aerospace — supplying both third parties and OSI's own divisions. Healthcare, the smallest division, sells patient monitoring and cardiology systems under the Spacelabs brand to hospitals. OSI's near-term growth focus is on U.S. border security funding from recent federal legislation, aviation security upgrades, expanding service revenue, a recently acquired RF and radar defense business, and marketing its non-China manufacturing footprint to OEMs seeking to diversify supply chains.
