VSE is a pure-play aviation aftermarket company focused on two core services: OEM-authorized parts distribution and component MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul). VSE completed a transformation into this focused business by divesting its Federal & Defense and Fleet segments in 2024 and 2025, respectively, and now operates as a single Aviation segment. On the distribution side, VSE acts as an authorized OEM distributor for parts including engine accessories, avionics, hydraulics, tires, and batteries, selling to airlines, cargo operators, corporate operators, and FBOs through a global network of distribution centers. On the MRO side, VSE repairs and overhauls components — including engine accessories, avionics, fuel controls, and wheels and brakes — at its own repair facilities, where fast turnaround time is a primary customer decision driver. Engine-related work represents more than half of total aviation revenue and is the fastest-growing part of the business. VSE's business model centers on an OEM-centric strategy: rather than competing as a commodity parts trader, VSE pursues authorized distribution and repair programs directly with OEMs, which carry better margins and stickier customer relationships. VSE also combines distribution and MRO to in-source repair work, deepening customer relationships and improving margins. A more differentiated capability is VSE's OEM license manufacturing program, where VSE acquired the right to manufacture Honeywell fuel controls for PT6 and Rolls-Royce 250 engines, becoming the manufacturer of record. VSE has grown through acquisitions, including Turbine Controls, Kellstrom Aerospace, Aero 3, and the pending ~$2B acquisition of Precision Aviation Group.
