DESCRIPTION

Rockwell Automation is the largest company focused exclusively on industrial automation. Its core product is the Allen-Bradley Logix programmable logic controller (PLC) platform — the market-leading PLC in North America — which controls physical equipment on plant floors and anchors a broad ecosystem of complementary hardware including human-machine interfaces, drives, motion control systems, and safety equipment. Beyond hardware, Rockwell sells industrial software including the FactoryTalk suite for operational data management and manufacturing execution, Plex (a cloud-native MES platform), and Fiix (a cloud-based maintenance management tool). Rockwell also provides engineering, integration, and digital consulting services. Rockwell operates through three segments: Intelligent Devices (hardware including drives and safety systems), Software & Control (Logix controllers and visualization software, the highest-margin segment), and Lifecycle Services (project-based and recurring engineering and managed services, the lowest-margin segment). Rockwell sells to manufacturers across automotive, food and beverage, life sciences, semiconductor, and other industries, through a direct sales force, distributors, and system integrators. Rockwell's growth strategy centers on expanding into higher-margin, recurring software and services revenue, growing cloud-native software subscriptions, and developing software-defined versions of its Logix platform that run on standard hardware. Rockwell has also expanded into adjacent markets including autonomous mobile robots and modular power distribution equipment for data centers.
