Ainos is a small, early-stage company with two technology platforms: AI Nose, an AI-powered electronic nose for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and VELDONA, a low-dose oral interferon drug platform. AI Nose is the primary commercial focus. The system combines portable gas sensor hardware with proprietary AI models — which Ainos calls a "smell language model" (SLM) — to detect VOC patterns at parts-per-billion sensitivity and classify scents into a machine-readable format. Ainos targets industrial applications including semiconductor manufacturing, robotics, and smart manufacturing, where continuous environmental sensing and anomaly detection are valuable. In 2025, Ainos secured its first commercial deployment under a multi-year subscription agreement with a semiconductor packaging and testing company. The intended business model pairs hardware sales with recurring subscription fees for software, model updates, and cloud connectivity. Ainos also argues that more deployments generate more scent data, which improves model performance over time. VELDONA is an oral interferon alpha formulation targeting rare and autoimmune diseases including oral warts in HIV-positive patients and Sjögren's syndrome; Ainos intends to out-license VELDONA rather than commercialize it independently, and has launched VELDONA Pet supplements in Taiwan. Ainos outsources hardware manufacturing to Taiwan Carbon Nano Technology and operates primarily out of Taiwan with 41 employees.
