DESCRIPTION

United-Guardian is a small specialty chemicals manufacturer that develops and sells proprietary hydrogel-based ingredients used in personal care, cosmetic, medical, and pharmaceutical products. The company operates out of a single facility in Hauppauge, New York through its Guardian Laboratories division. Its flagship product line, Lubrajel, is a family of hydrogel formulations that provide lubrication and moisturization, sold as ingredients to cosmetic manufacturers for use in products like moisturizers, serums, and sunscreens, and to medical device makers for catheters and surgical instruments. United-Guardian also sells two pharmaceutical products: Renacidin, an FDA-approved prescription drug used to prevent and dissolve catheter calcifications, and Clorpactin, a topical antimicrobial. Renacidin is the only FDA-approved drug for its indication and faces no direct competition. The company sells through specialty chemical distributors for cosmetic ingredients, directly to device makers for medical lubricants, and through drug wholesalers for pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceuticals account for roughly half of revenue, with cosmetic ingredients and medical lubricants making up most of the rest. The cosmetic ingredients business depends heavily on a small number of distributors, with ASI being the largest. United-Guardian's growth strategy centers on expanding Renacidin's formulary coverage, launching a new sexual wellness hydrogel line called Natrajel in 2026, developing COSMOS-certified natural ingredients, and expanding internationally through new distribution agreements.
