DESCRIPTION

Twin Disc designs and manufactures power transmission equipment for marine and heavy-duty off-highway applications. Its products transfer power from engines to drivetrains, propellers, and pumps. The two core product lines are Marine and Propulsion Systems — including marine transmissions, thrusters, azimuth drives, and controls for commercial vessels, military craft, and luxury yachts — and Land-Based Transmissions, which serve oil and gas frac pumping, airport rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicles, and other off-highway equipment. A third Industrial segment adds gearboxes, PTOs, and clutches for agricultural and construction OEMs. Twin Disc sells through a direct sales force and a global distributor network, with no single customer exceeding 10% of sales. Aftermarket revenue — spare parts, rebuilds, and services — is an important contributor, particularly in marine, where aftermarket margins exceed 60%. Revenue is sensitive to product mix: higher-content systems like hybrid marine propulsion, which can include batteries, motors, inverters, and controls alongside the transmission, carry meaningfully more revenue and margin per vessel than a standalone transmission. Twin Disc has grown through bolt-on acquisitions, including Veth (thrusters), Katsa (Finnish industrial and marine gearboxes), and Kobelt (Canadian marine controls and industrial brakes), each expanding the content Twin Disc can supply per vessel or vehicle. Growth priorities include defense, hybrid and electric marine propulsion, geographic expansion of recently acquired product lines, and an E-frac transmission for electric fracturing equipment.
